Chairmen of the 22 Eircom League clubs last night voted to back a motion calling on the FAI Board of Management to overturn the decision not to talk with the Government.

This raises the possibility of the FAI entering talks with the Government on the National Stadium as a backup to the Eircom Park project.

The meeting also recommended that independent technical advisers be appointed to review the Eircom project and it backed a full treatment of the planning process for Eircom Park by An Bord Pleanála.

The motion will be put forward at this afternoon's Board of Management meeting by the Eircom League delegates.
