Boxing: Ireland's Andy Lee recorded his seventh win from seven professional fights in Las Vegas early this morning. The Limerick middleweight was a convincing winner over American Arturo Ortega.
The bout was stopped in the sixth of eight rounds, with Lee (22) holding too much fire-power for his overwhelmed opponent.
The victory was all the more notable considering Ortega had never been stopped before.
Lee now goes to a training camp in Spain in preparation for his next outing at at Madison Square Garden, New York on March 16th.
Lee refused to be distracted by a late change of opponent after Carlos Aballe pulled out of the fight during the week.
Lee had been due to meet Aballe at the Orleans Casino, but the Cuban withdrew and was been replaced by Ortega at short notice.
