Leeds United have confirmed they are in take-over talks with an as yet unnamed Yorkshire consortium.
The club say "constructive talks are continuing" with the group but that negotiations are being conducted through solicitors and advisors to the group, and not the consortium directly.
The group are keen to preserve their anonymity until a potential deal to buy the club has been brokered.
Leeds chief executive Trevor Birch is also in talks with the club's major creditors as another deadline to avoid administration approaches.
"Negotiations with the Yorkshire group are at an advanced stage and the likelihood is that Trevor Birch will be granted more time by the creditors to conclude the deal before the end of the week," a statement on the club's website read today.
Having already received a week's extension to secure a £5 million injection to keep the Elland Road club active until May, Birch has explored various routes to survival.
Last month Leeds agreed a `standstill agreement' with their creditors, to whom they owe a combined sum in excess of £80 million, which bought them breathing space.
