London - Legal submissions are expected to last at least until today before a jury may be sworn in the Old Bailey trial of Mr Barry George, accused of the murder of BBC television's Crimewatch presenter, Jill Dando. Mr George (40), from Fulham, west London, has denied murdering Miss Dando (37) on the doorstep of her home in Fulham, on April 26th, 1999.

Wearing a blue jumper and blue shirt with a yellow tie and carrying a Bible, he sat in the dock flanked by prison officers.

Ms Dando's fiance, Dr Alan Farthing, a gynaecologist, and BBC Crimewatch presenter, Nick Ross, were among those at the court. Sitting nearby was Mr George's sister, Ms Michelle Diskin.

Prosecuting is senior Treasury counsel, Mr Orlando Pownall, while Mr Michael Mansfield QC is defending Mr George.
