Tom Lehman fired his second five-under par 66 in a row to seize a one-stroke lead over a trio of rivals after two rounds of the $3.5 million WorldCom Classic in South Carolina yesterday.
An eagle and five birdies offset a lone bogey to leave Lehman at 10-under par 132 here - one stroke ahead of Fiji's Vijay Singh and compatriots Billy Mayfair and Billy Andrade.
Lehman is seeking his first title in 15 months. He had the clubhouse lead here on Sunday last year at 12-under 272 but finished two strokes behind eventual champion Stewart Cink.
The 1996 British Open champion says the Harbour Town Golf Links, which stretch along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline, among his favorite courses.
"It offers a small target but the smaller the target the more I get focused. Keeping the ball in the fairways is essential. And you have to make your putts. The course is playing nicely. You should be able to make some birdies."
