The Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Noel Ahern, today approved funding for the development of 50 housing units in the Mercy Convent on Cork St in Dublin.
Mr Ahern commented that housing was "much needed in the Cork Street area" and expressed his hope that the scheme would "benefit…the Cork Street community in general".
The development is part of the Government Loan and Capital Assistance Scheme and is expected to cost more than €10.4 million.
When completed, the 50 units will provide accommodation for families, the elderly and the homeless.
