Fantastic Light, conqueror of Galileo in the Irish Champion Stakes, is to be retired to stud after he has run in the Breeders' Cup Classic later this month, it has been reported tonight.
Last year's Emirates World Series winner is to stand at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket next year at an as yet undisclosed fee, Darley, Sheikh Mohammed's umbrella breeding operation, have announced according to the Racing Post website.
The five-year-old has netted almost £3,500,000 in win and place prize money in a glittering career that has yielded 11 victories from 24 starts.
His last five successes have come in Group One races at racecourses as far a field as Sha Tin, Belmont Park and Ascot.
Fantastic Light's triumph by a head over the dual Derby winner in the 10-furlong Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown last month was one of the races of the season.
It meant revenge for the son of Rahy after his defeat at the hands of Galileo in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes over a mile and a half at Ascot in July.
The pair are set to clash for a third time at Belmont Park on October 27.
