The first person in Ireland to be arrested and extradited under an EU arrest warrant was jailed for six years at the Old Bailey today for fatally stabbing another man.
Kenneth Dundon (47) denied murder but admitted the manslaughter of Christopher Jacobs, which was accepted by the prosecution.
Mr Jacobs was stabbed in the face - severing blood vessels - at his home in Hoxton, London on October 8th, 2003.
Dundon was arrested but fled to Ireland while on bail. He was arrested in his native Co Limerick and sent back to Britain after his Supreme Court appeal failed.
Judge Brian Barker told the court Dundon had a stormy relationship with his wife. She and the victim were having a relationship and were part of an alcoholic and possibly addict community.
Dundon, who has already served a total of 951 days, both in Ireland and the Britain, will be eligible for parole after serving half his sentence.
