Limerick gardai who are seeking the killer of Georgina O'Donnell (20) confirmed yesterday that the main suspect was seen in the Co Kerry resort of Ballybunion some days after the shooting.

Despite the sighting, Interpol has been alerted and details and a photofit impression of the suspect have been circulated to all Garda stations throughout the country, although he has not been named.

Searches have been carried out in the surrounding counties, and gardai again warned that the man could be armed and dangerous if cornered. The 29-year-old suspect has a criminal record and shot the young mother of a nine-month-old baby girl by mistake in a Limerick city-centre nightclub on May 2nd. It is understood he had been in the Henry Cecil nightclub and left after a row with his girlfriend. He returned later armed with a revolver and shot Ms O'Donnell.

Meanwhile, a Co Clare farmer who was seriously assaulted in his home in early April is still unconscious in Limerick Regional Hospital. According to a Garda spokesman at Killaloe there has been no improvement in his condition and gardai have been unable to interview him.

Mr Patrick Skehan (68), of Ardnataggle, Bridgetown, received severe head injuries when he was beaten, blindfolded and tied up. A neighbour found him after he had discovered his jeep abandoned two miles from his home on a country road. The incident occurred about six miles from Limerick city, and gardai believe that robbery was the motive.
