The Minister for the Environment has been urged to hold an oral hearing on extending the Limerick city boundary.

Limerick Corporation has asked the Minister for over 4,000 acres in Clare, taking in Shannon Banks, Westbury, Parteen, Meelick, Clonlara and Gillogue.

The chairman of Clare Against the Boundary Extension, Mr Jim Gully, yesterday said its "survey of 83 per cent against the boundary extension into Clare, taken in the affected areas, showed clearly that the people living in south-east Clare want to stay in the county".
