Limerick is the city with the cleanest train station, according to the results of this year's Iarnrod Eireann Best Station competition.
It narrowly beat Mallow to win the main award, which was presented by the Minister for Public Enterprise, Ms O'Rourke, in Dundalk yesterday. Dundalk took third place, and Connolly station in Dublin won an award for the most improved city station.
Westport was judged best Intercity station, followed by Boyle and Thurles. The award for best Intercity halt went to Castlebar, followed by Millstreet and Ballymote.
In Dublin, Blackrock and Skerries held on to the titles of best DART station and best suburban halt respectively, which they won last year.
