A Lithuanian man (48) remains in a critical condition in the Mater hospital this afternoon after he was attacked on Saturday while walking along the Royal Canal in North Dublin .
The man suffered serious head and neck injuries in the assault.
Three men, all aged 18, were yesterday charged with assault causing harm at Dublin District Court.
Mr Kevin Dunne, Mr Michael Rea and Mr Leigh O'Connell were arrested by gardaí hours after the attack and the court was told they made no reply when arrested.

No addresses were given for the three 18-year-olds and an application for bail is to be heard at a later date. They are believed to be living in health board hostels.
