Liverpool have reacted to reports this morning by insisting Senegal’s World Cup star Khalilou Fadiga is not on his way to Anfield.
Liverpool have already signed Senegal’s El-Hadji Diouf and Salif Diao and reports in the British press this morning claimed that midfielder Fadiga was on the verge on joining his international teammates on Merseyside.
Willie McKay, Fadiga's agent, is believed to have said that Gerard Houllier is keen to snap up Fadiga before the start of the season from French club Auxerre. The 27 year old is keen for a move away from Auxerre, but according to officials at Liverpool, he won't be playing his football at Anfield next season. Club spokesman Ian Cotton announced: "The player's agent contacted Liverpool asking us if we were interested. Contrary to speculation in the press today Liverpool Football Club are not interested in signing this player."
