Liverpool suffered a double blow today when central defender Stephane Henchoz and striker Emile Heskey were ruled out of Gerard Houllier's immediate plans with injury.

Swiss international Henchoz faces a lay-off of four to six weeks because he needs minor surgery on his calf, the club said.

The 28-year-old Swiss international has been troubled by injuries this season but played a major role in Liverpool's Worthington Cup final victory over Manchester United last Sunday.

Heskey, who had to go off during the second half at the Millennium Stadium, is likely to be out for two weeks with a hamstring strain.
