Ulster second row Gary Longwell has been given the all clear to travel with Ireland for their upcoming three-match tour to Australia, Tonga and Samoa.
Longwell will fly out with the 41-man squad this Thursday after he passed a medical today. He had been kept in isolation since Sunday having been confined to bed suffering with a virus and high temperature.
To make matters worse for lock forward, the Irish party is concerned about the stop over in Singapore on their way to Perth, considering the risk of the respiratory infection SARS. But Longwell's condition has improved considerably and is deemed fit to travel.
Before he does, Longwell will leave the squad's Dublin base and return home for a family bereavement before re-joining the tour party.
