An exhibition of work by Irish Times photographers will be in Waterford until the end of the month.

"Exposure 99" looks back at the defining moments of last year as seen through the eyes of photographers working for this newspaper.

Opening the exhibition at the Garter Lane arts centre, the Mayor of Waterford, Mr Davy Daniels, said the work served as a record of the year to be preserved for posterity. It covered the full spectrum of Irish life including the social, political, sporting and cultural dimensions.

The artistic director of the centre, Ms Caroline Senior, said the exhibition was an excellent one and she hoped that if The Irish Times repeated the venture it would return to Garter Lane.
