The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alderman Joe Doyle, has condemned racism as "un-Christian" after launching a joint programme with the Eastern Health Board to promote racial and refugee integration in Dublin.
Seven thousand copies of booklets in Vietnamese, Romanian, Serbo-Croat, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian and French providing basic information on welfare, health and housing services will be made available to immigrants in the city.
Mr Doyle said it would take a great deal of effort to create an integrated city, but added that integration was everybody's concern.
He strongly condemned racist leaflets which have been sent to people in the south inner city.
