Screaming Lord Sutch (58), the former rock singer who brought zany humour to British politics with his Monster Raving Loony Party, has been found dead at his home after apparently committing suicide.
His girlfriend Mr Yvonne Elwood said she had found him at his home yesterday afternoon. Police confirmed they had found a man hanging at an address in north-west London.
David Sutch, the longest-serving party leader in Britain, was an eccentric figure who brought colour to politics in Britain at the helm of the irreverent Monster Raving Loony Party.
His "Lordship" (he added the "Lord" by deed poll) fought some 40 elections over a period of more than 30 years. The 1960s pop star and his motley followers campaigned under the slogan: "Vote for insanity - you know it makes sense", to the intense irritation of some politicians but to the delight of the massed ranks of Britain's electorate.
