A MOTHER and son who sold themselves a winning ticket collected a Lotto jackpot win worth over £1 million yesterday. Lotto agent Mary Vaughan and her son, Anthony, from Lusk, Co Dublin, will share the winnings between them. They also won the seller's prize of £5,000.

"We still cannot believe we've won," said Mrs Mary Vaughan yesterday. "It was only this morning when the newspapers contacted us that we discovered we had sold the winning ticket, and then when we ran our own ticket through the Lotto terminal and it said contact National Lottery offices to collect your winnings' I realised we were the winners."

Her son, Anthony (25), who works in Mercury Engineering in Leixlip, shares the £1,073,499 win. He picked the winning numbers over two years ago - using birthdays and other numbers.

Anthony says they are looking forward to celebrating the win and there are plans for him and his fiance to buy a house. "The funny thing is that about six months ago I recorded a song called `Hit for 6' about winning the Lotto. I play the guitar and I am music mad. If anyone wants to give me a recording contract now that I've won the jackpot I'd be more than happy to talk to them," said a delighted Anthony.
