Punters have been urged to buy Lotto tickets early this weekend to avoid queues ahead of one of the highest jackpot in the history of the game.
The jackpot has rolled over for the past ten draws since January 20th, and a lucky winner tomorrow night could earn €13 million.
The National Lottery said its expects record ticket sales, with an average of up to 1,600 tickets played per minute on draw night between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.
The last time the Lotto jackpot reached the €13 million level was on December 22nd last, when sales drove it to over €13.2 million. That jackpot still stands as the second highest Lotto jackpot in the history of the Lotto game.
It was won by a syndicate from Co Galway, who purchased their €12 quick pick ticket in Loughrea.
The biggest Lotto jackpot so far in 2008 was on Wednesday January 9th, when it rolled over to €4,864,048. The winning ticket for this jackpot was sold in Mallow, Co Cork.
