Loyalists have been blamed for a petrol bomb attack on the home of an elderly couple in west Belfast.

Mr Trevor George, a 73-year-old Protestant who is married to a Catholic, said last night's attack was the 36th on their home in Dunmurry in the past three years.

The couple and their daughter (22) were in the house at the time but were uninjured.

Two windows were broken and a conservatory was fire-damaged when two petrol bombs, one of which failed to ignite, were thrown at the house.

"The UDA are behind it. They have been carrying this on for years. The conservatory at the back is absolutely wrecked," Mr George said. He claimed those responsible were from the nearby Seymour Hill Estate.

"The police seem powerless. I have asked them to put patrols on here but they say they don't have the manpower," he said.
