The M1 southbound has reopened after being closed this morning following two crashes involving five vehicles near Swords, Co Dublin, which left two people seriously injured.
The delay in reopening the road was due to the need to remove cooking oil from the road surface which came from one of the vehicles involved in the crashes
This morning's collision initially involved two trucks and a car.
According to gardaí, a truck hit a stationary car at around 2.30am, with another truck then colliding with the first vehicle between the Donabate and Swords exits on the southbound lane of the M1.
It is believed a second car driver then stopped to assist at the scene and that another articulated lorry collided with that car.
One of the injured victims has been taken to Beaumont hospital, the other to the Mater Hospital.
AA Ireland said that M1 traffic is light from Drogheda to the toll plaza and that delays on the old N1 (R132) should begin to ease shortly.
