Macedonian peace talks will continue tomorrow after failing to strike a final deal on ways to end a five-month ethnic Albanian rebellion, a Western mediator said.

"We will continue the discussion tomorrow," Mr Max van der Stoel, a representative of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), told reporters today.
Earlier, another mediator had said leaders of the main Macedonian and ethnic Albanian political parties, meeting for more than a week in southwestern Macedonia, might strike a final agreement tonight on defusing the conflict.
A number of clarifications have been given and that hopefully will help in reaching an agreement, Mr van der Stoel said when asked if a deal would be reached tomorrow.
