Macedonian lawmakers today backed the first step in a framework peace agreement with the country's ethnic Albanian minority.
They voted 91 for, 18 against and three abstentions in a secret ballot.
A two-thirds majority was needed for the long-delayed ballot, originally expected on Tuesday, to pass.
Now that the principle of revising the constitution has been accepted, NATO is expected to shortly begin the second phase of its operation to collect 3,300 rebel weapons.
