A powerful magnitude 6.5 quake hit off Alaska's Aleutian Islands last night, the US Geological Survey said, but it did not immediately trigger a tsunami warning.
The quake, only 33 km (20.5 miles) deep, struck at 22:04pm 50 km (31 miles) southeast of Nikolski, on Umnak island.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not immediately issue a tsunami warning.
