Leaving behind his native milieu of Northern Ireland, Bateman sets his latest anarchical thriller in the town of Niagara Falls in Canada. But shades of the Orange and the Green remain, in that protagonist Inspector Frank Corrigan is an ex-RUC detective. After the travails of his native place, patrolling the sleepy hamlet is a doss for Frank, but then a convention of drug dealers descends on the place and all hell breaks loose. Fans of Bateman will know what to expect, in a narrative that veers from the strange to the very strange indeed. And in Native American Princess Lelewala, our author has created a truly memorable love-interest for the beleaguered Frank.
