Major bridge contest to be held in Dublin

The Contract Bridge Association of Ireland's national mixed pairs championships for the president's, Mrs Marie Cummins', prizes, the Spiro Cup, and the Jim Fitzgerald Trophy will be decided over three sessions on September 20th-21st in the Regency Hotel, on the Swords Road, Dublin. The Spiro is open to masters upwards, and the Fitzgerald is confined to intermediates. Accommodation lists are available from regional secretaries, and Central Office. The Scottish Bridge Union will play a friendly international against the CBAI in the Central Hotel, Donegal, on September 13th-14th.

The championship for the Harry Devine Memorial Trophy, in which all the players on a team must be members of the same club, will take place over two sessions in the Blackrock College RFC, Stradbrook Road, Blackrock, Co Dublin, on September 28th, starting at 2 p.m. Among the prizes the winners will receive £120, and the best intermediates £80 plus the Maeve Devine Trophy.
