A man (33) is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning charged with attempted murder, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and evasion of customs duty.
It is understood the charges relate to an incident involving a lorry in west Belfast on Friday.
The lorry was being chased by PSNI officers thought to be investigating an alleged fuel-smuggling ring when it hit a police vehicle and a car in which a man was sitting with his two teenagers.
The lorry came to a halt in the St James's Park Area near the Falls Road at around 3pm after its tyres were shot at by PSNI officers. The man and two teenagers were not seriously injured.
