A 75-year-old north Dublin man was charged yesterday with sexually abusing four grandnieces over a 11-year period. The man, who cannot be named to protect the victims' identities, faces 63 charges of sexual assault and indecent assault carried out between 1985 and 1996.
The alleged victims are three sisters and a cousin, now aged between seven and 18 years. Garda Maire Callaghan gave evidence in Dublin District Court of arresting the defendant at his home and said she did not object to bail provided the accused man stayed away from the injured parties and surrendered his passport.
Judge Miriam Malone remanded the accused man in custody with consent to independent bail of £500 on those conditions to appear again on May 28th.
