TWO PEOPLE were arrested in Dublin at the weekend following separate seizures of drugs with a combined estimated value of €1.2 million.
A man in his 40s was arrested on Saturday after members of the Garda national drugs and organised crime units searched premises in the north Co Dublin area.
Cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €900,000 was recovered during the search which gardaí said was an “intelligence-led operation”.
The man is being detained at Ashbourne Garda station.
In a separate surveillance operation led by the Garda drugs unit but also involving officers from Revenue’s Customs service, some 25kg of herbal cannabis were seized in guest accommodation in Dublin’s north inner city.
The drugs, with an estimated street value of €300,000, were seized following routine profiling of a British national who arrived in Ireland from South Africa.
The woman in her 40s is being held under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996, at Pearse Street Garda station.
