A MAN and woman who face charges connected to the death of model Katy French have been sent forward for trial at the Circuit Court next month. Navan District Court was told that the book of evidence, which contains details of the prosecution case, had been served yesterday morning on Kieran Ducie (40), Lambertstown Manor, Kilmessan, Co Meath, and Ann Corcoran (29), Tolka Road, Clonliffe Road, Dublin 3.
The accused each faces the same two charges.
The first charge alleges that on a date and time unknown between December 1st and 2nd, 2007, at the Statoil Service Station, Bracetown, Clonee, Co Meath, they conspired with persons not before the court to possess cocaine for the purpose of supply to another.
The second charge alleges that on the same dates and times at 10 Lambertstown Manor, Kilmessan, they intentionally or recklessly engaged in conduct, to wit the supply of cocaine to Katy French, and failure to get medical assistance in a timely fashion which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to another.
Det Garda Niall O’Donnell gave evidence yesterday of serving the book on Ms Corcoran while Det Insp Alf Martyn gave evidence of serving it on Mr Ducie.
State solicitor Michael Finnegan told Judge Denis McLaughlin he was seeking a return for trial to the next sitting of Trim Circuit Court, on October 26th next. The solicitor for the two accused asked for legal aid for both. Ms Corcoran had previously been granted legal aid to cover the District Court and that was yesterday extended to the Circuit Court.
Mr Ducie did not have legal aid but it was requested and granted yesterday as the case has been sent to the higher court. Garda Insp Martina Noonan did not object to it being granted.
Judge McLaughlin agreed to an application for the legal aid to cover two barristers for each accused. They were sent forward on the same bail conditions already put in place by the District Court.
