A court was told yesterday that a man arrested following the discovery of £200,000 sterling of cannabis resin in a car in Dungiven, Co Derry, on Wednesday, had "an integral part" in a drugs syndicate in the north-west.

The claim was made by a member of the RUC's drugs squad who said he opposed bail being granted to Mr Dominic Allen (34), unemployed, of Coolessan Walk, Limavady, Co Derry, denies possession and possessing with intent to supply the drugs.

A second man arrested at the scene has been released pending the preparation of a police report. Mr Allen was remanded in custody until Tuesday.
