Man arrested over armed raid

A man has been arrested in Dublin tonight following an armed raid at a bookmakers in the city centre.

A man has been arrested in Dublin tonight following an armed raid at a bookmakers in the city centre.

A masked man walked into the premises on Westmoreland Street at about 6.20pm and produced a firearm which he used to threaten staff before demanding money.

He left the shop on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Gardaí from Pearse Street were notified of the robbery and a man in his late 20's was arrested at Foster Place a short time later.

He is currently detained at Pearse Street Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.
