A man (27) has been arrested in connection with a car crash last week in Cork city in which two teenagers lost their lives.
He was arrested in Cork city shortly before 11am this morning and is being held at Gurranabraher Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The crash in Cork happened at Harbour View Road in Knocknaheeny at 11.30pm on Thursday when two cars driving in the same direction collided with each other.
A black Volkswagen Golf was in collision with a red Ford Mondeo. Both cars were thrown down a bank below the road. Four occupants of the Ford Mondeo were brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.
CJ Dolan (16), Hollywood Estate, Blarney Road, Cork, was pronounced dead after the two-car collision, while Derry O’Callaghan (19), Killala Gardens, Knocknaheeny, Cork, died at Cork University Hospital on Friday morning.
A 40-year-old man was charged with false imprisonment of another male over the weekend in an incident related to the crash.
Philip Murphy, with an address at Killala Gardens in Knocknaheeny, was charged with the false imprisonment of a man on May 13th He is due to appear before Cork District Court again tomorrow.
