A man appeared in court today in connection with the seizure of cocaine worth up to €250,000 at a west Dublin industrial estate.

Pádraig Murphy (36) of Kilmartin Avenue, Tallaght, was charged with possession with intent to supply the Class A substance.  Kilmainham District Court heard Mr Murphy also faced a charge of possession.

Detective Garda Eva Micheau said the accused made no reply when cautioned at Tallaght Garda Station last night.

Mr Murphy was arrested after a raid at an industrial unit on Elm Road, Western Industrial Estate, on the Naas Road yesterday. A significant quantity of drugs paraphernalia was also seized.

The raid was carried out as part of a planned search between the Garda National Drugs Unit and local units from Clondalkin.

Making a bail application, Mr Murphy's solicitor Jeremy Ring said his client had recently lost his job and lived with his partner of 16 years and their two children at his home address. He said Mr Murphy had one previous conviction but no history of a bench warrant.

Det Gda Micheau said officers had no objection to bail on condition a substantial surety was made.

Judge Brian Joseph Sheridan remanded Mr Murphy in custody with consent to bail pending a €10,000 independent surety and €5,000 cash bond.

The accused, who has already surrendered his passport, was also ordered to sign on daily at Tallaght Garda station.

Mr Murphy will re-appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday, February 8th.
