The body of Patrick O'Donoghue (41) was found lying in Meat Market Lane off Athlunkard Street last Friday morning.

It was alleged at Limerick District Court at the weekend that Mr Naughton injected heroin into Mr O'Donoghue's arm and that he fell unconscious.

Insp John Scanlan further alleged that the accused then moved his unconscious friend from his house at Meat Market Lane and put him in an outside laneway where he was later found dead.

Judge Tom O'Donnell remanded the accused to appear again before Limerick District Court on September 15th.
