A 19-year-old man arrested by detectives investigating suspected Real IRA bomb blasts in London and Birmingham was today charged with plotting to cause an explosion.
Mr John Hannan, who was detained in Northern Ireland on Monday afternoon at the request of Metropolitan Police anti-terrorist officers, is being held at an unnamed police station in central London.

The four men, Mr James McCormack, Mr Noel Maguire and Mr Aiden and Robert Hulme, appeared at the Old Bailey in May this year charged in connection with the bomb attacks.
Mr McCormack, 33, is accused of causing three explosions, and Mr Aiden Hulme, 25, faces a charge of conspiring to cause an explosion.
Mr Maguire, 32, is charged with causing two explosions and conspiring to cause an explosion.
Mr Robert Hulme, 22, is accused of conspiracy to cause an explosion and possessing explosives and firearms.
All four were remanded in custody pending a pre-trial hearing.
