A man shot at a Communion service in Ballymun, Dublin, was wounded again as he pursued the alleged gunman, a court heard yesterday. Mr Peter McCann (31), a father of one from Balcurris Road, is charged with having a .22 Beretta automatic pistol and seven rounds with intent to endanger life at St Joseph's church, Ballymun, on May 16th.

Det Sgt Matt Murphy said it was alleged the defendant entered the church and shot and injured two people. He was pursued by a crowd as he ran from the church and then fired again, hitting one of the victims again before being apprehended.

Judge Miriam Malone refused jurisdiction and remanded Mr McCann in custody to appear on June 24th.
