A man is in critical condition in hospital today after a shooting incident in the Dublin suburb of Blanchardstown early this morning.
The 25-year-old man was shot in the neck in the hallway of his house in Fortlawn Park by a man who called to the door. The gunman left the scene on a motorbike, according to a Garda statement.
The shooting victim was taken to Connolly Hospital. Only minutes later gardai found a motorbike on fire at Sheepmore Grove.
"It is possible that this motorcycle was used in the crime and it is being technically examined," the statement said. The scene in Fortlawn Park has been sealed off for a technical examination.
Gardai are investigating another shooting incident which happened late last night in Clodalkin.
A single shot was fired through a front downstairs window of a house at Oldchurch Crescent at about 11.55pm.
There were five people in the house at the time but nobody was injured. Gardaí have sealed off the scene for a technical examination.
