A man has died after crashing on the M7 motorway outside Portlaoise.
The victim’s car crashed into the centre barrier of the motorway at Clonkeen at about 12.45pm yesterday.
The man was removed to Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where he later died. A postmortem will take place later today.
The scene was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since re-opened.
Meanwhile, a man remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was struck by a truck on the M7 in Co Kildare.
The 45-year-old man was knocked down near exit six on the Dublin inbound lane at around 4pm.
He was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was being treated for serious injuries.
One lane of the motorway was closed for a forensic collision examination and was reopened at 8pm last night.
