A man has died from his injuries after he fell from the second-floor window of a shop in Dublin city centre this morning.

The man, who is believed to be in his forties, was cleaning windows and slipped from the window of a building opposite the GPO that houses Carroll's shop and Abrakebabra fast food restaurant.

People at the scene said it appeared the man had released himself from a safety harness as he was attempting to get back in the window shortly after 10 a.m. and that he fell.

Parts of a sign over the shop lay broken in the street.  It is believe the man gripped onto the sign in an attempt to save himself as he fell.
