Man dies after Limerick assault

A man who was found with serious head injuries in Limerick on Friday night has died in hospital.

A man who was found with serious head injuries in Limerick on Friday night has died in hospital.

A garda spokesman said they believed the 45-year-old man, who was from Limerick, had been assaulted.

He was found in a laneway between Dominic Street and Parnell Street in the city at around 11 p.m, and was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital. He died this evening at 7.30 p.m.

The state pathologist is expected to carry out a post mortem examination tomorrow.
