A man died last night when his car crashed into a ditch in Co Louth.
The collision happened on the Drogheda to Ballymakenny Road, about five miles from Drogheda, at 10.30pm.
There were four people in the car — two men and two women — and all were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Shortly after midnight, one of the men, aged 20, died. The other three were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
The road was closed to allow forensic crash investigators to carry out an examination. Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí.
