A man in his late 40s has died after falling into the River Lee in Cork this afternoon.
The man is understood to have tripped while climbing between two boats and fallen into the water.
Emergency services were called at 1.20 p.m. when the man was spotted along the shoreline of the river near Blackrock Castle.
Three units of the Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and took the man from the water.

However, efforts to resuscitate him at the scene failed, a Fire Brigade source said.
The man was brought to South Infirmary hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His name has not yet been released.
