A Co Waterford man wanted in England for the alleged sexual abuse of his daughter has been granted bail, Dublin District Court was told yesterday. The 50-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is wanted on foot of five extradition warrants from West Yorkshire police. He faces four charges of gross indecency and one of indecent assault against his daughter, who was under 13, in Bradford between January and December 1980.
Mr Dermot Morris, defending, said the defendant had been granted £5,000 independent bail by the High Court and wanted a short remand so he could get a bailsperson. Judge Murrough Connellan remanded the defendant to appear again tomorrow.
