A YOUNG man “snapped” when he found his mother having sex with a man and stabbed him, a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court was told yesterday.
Daniel Ward (21) of Bawnlea Close, Tallaght, Dublin, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Seán O’Riordan on August 5th, 2008, in Bawnlea Close. Det Garda Eamonn Ryan told Ronan Kennedy, prosecuting, that Mr O’Riordan, was attending a friend’s birthday celebrations in the Clondalkin village.
The two were having sex in the sitting room when the accused put his head in the door as he was looking for a cigarette lighter. The defendant did not know the man and ran into the kitchen where he got a knife and ran up the road after Mr O’Riordan. “Mr O’Riordan fell onto a traffic island and then realised he was bleeding heavily and a knife was lodged into his left knee,” said Det Ryan.
Mr Kennedy said Ward was “very angry and felt disrespected when he saw a stranger in his home”. Judge Katherine Delahunt remanded Ward on bail for sentencing next January.
