A man was being questioned by police today following two arson attacks on the same Co Down house within hours.
The house at in the Hillhead Park area of Banbridge was broken into and a fire started in the living room last night — it caused considerable damage. The property was empty after the occupants were forced out by another arson attack little more than 12 hours before.
The man and woman were woken at around 6am by a noise downstairs and on investigating they discovered the front door was ablaze. They escaped uninjured but severely shocked. The house was badly smoke damaged A man was detained following the second attack.
Police appealed for information , particularly anyone who may have seen a man in a silver car in Hillhead Park after the first attack.
