Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the death last Sunday of Charlie McDonagh in Ennis, Co Clare.
Mr McDonagh (30), Bridge Court, Ennis, died after sustaining a number of stab-type injuries during altercations.
Later a man aged 26 was transferred to University College Hospital Galway with injuries sustained to his right arm and was arrested outside the hospital yesterday.
He was held under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and was being detained last night under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He can be held for 24 hours.
A preliminary file on the case, comprising of witness statements, has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
It is understood the weapons used in the incident included a hatchet, brick and a knife.
Mr McDonagh was buried yesterday in Tuam.
