A man has been arrested at Glasgow Airport after allegedly claiming he had a bomb in his luggage as he was about to set off on a skiing trip.
The 22-year-old Scot, who has not been named, allegedly made the comment shortly before he was due to get on board a chartered flight to Geneva in Switzerland yesterday afternoon.
Airport security staff called police and the man was arrested and taken into custody.
It is understood the man, who is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court tomorrow, was part of a group of skiers travelling on the British Airways flight.
A spokeswoman for British Airways said: "We strongly advise passengers not to make any remarks which could be misinterpreted. The authorities quite rightly take them very seriously."
The alleged incident at Glasgow Airport is the third in recent weeks involving British flight passengers.
Last month student Ms Samantha Marson (21), from Shropshire, was arrested in Miami after joking she had a bomb in her rucksack as she waited to board a flight to London.
And a week later Ms Lesley Brennan (48), was charged with "communicating false information" after allegedly telling check-in staff at Newcastle Airport she had a bomb in her luggage.
