A 44-year-old man has been arrested for questioning by gardaí investigating the murder of Ger McMahon in Limerick earlier this month.
Mr McMahon (43), known locally as Ger Troy, from Raheen Square, Limerick, was found with multiple stab wounds on the steps of a house at Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, at about 12.30am on Wednesday January 18th by an ambulance crew.
He was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital in the early hours of January 18th.
Sean Flanagan, (26), of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick appeared before Limerick District Court yesterday morning charged with Mr McMahon’s murder. His brother Ian Flanagan (22), was charged with impeding the Garda investigation into the murder.
Det Gda Michael Murphy told the court he arrested Sean Flanagan on January 20th at 11.35pm and later charged him with murder. He said the accused made no reply when cautioned at Roxboro Road Garda station.
Gardaí arrested another man this morning. He is being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Roxboro Road Garda station.
